ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I love oatmeal and this sounds delicious.
ReplyDeletethis sounds positively scrumptious!! I'm intrigued by the pear cider... yum!
ReplyDeleteMmmm.....
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks absolutly divine, so smooth and creamy.
ReplyDeleteYum. I love the idea of oatmeal in the slow cooker. Love the ice cream idea too Kate.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of pears in oatmeal and look forward to trying this. I prefer steel cut oatmeal (aka Irish oatmeal) to rolled oats. If you have never tried it, you are in for a treat.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love oatmeal. What a great idea. I have pears right now. I guess I'll have to try this one.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a slow cooker, but I used this recipe as my regular oatmeal in the morning, and it was one of the best recipes for oatmeal that I have come across (I used regular milk, but next time will try it with some pear cider).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recipe!
Anon: I'm glad you liked it!
ReplyDeleteI have begun to use my rice cooker to prepare my steel-cut oatmeal. It has a timer (so it starts cooking 30 min before I get up) AND it has a removable, non-stick pot that is much easier to clean. The pear cider sounds heavenly. Do you buy it in the juice aisle, say, @Whole Foods?
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should also try apple cider as I love apples, raisins and walnuts in my oatmeal. You've inspired me!
Palymama-As I said in the post, I bought my pear cider at my local farmers market. I have no way of knowing where you can buy the product locally.
ReplyDeleteWhat would you suggest as a substitute for the pear cider? I can't find that around me...
ReplyDeleteapple cider, water
