A few of my favorite things: 2007

2007 was a big year for Coconut & Lime. I averaged almost 5 original recipes a week. That's a lot of cooking! It was hard to chose, but here are a list of my favorite recipes for the past year, one for each month. Click on the month to see what else I made during those 30 days.

January:
Cuba Libre Cupcakes. This isn't just one of my favorite recipes that I've created ever, it is one of the most popular on the blog.

February:
Kiwi Freezer Jam. My first jam. Super easy, tasty and not too sweet.

March:
I celebrated Purim with some vegan hamantaschen. One of those "I can't believe it's vegan" recipes.

April:
Mango Chicken. I am especially proud of this recipe. I tried to duplicate a dish I had in a restaurant and I think I made it even better, just going on instinct.

May:
Dark Chocolate Goji Berry Ice Cream. Vosges inspired and so very tasty.

June:
Blueberry Ginger Ice Box Pie. So pretty and fresh and it didn't heat up the house.

July:
Smearcase. Recreating a regional favorite just from sense memory was tricky but the results were perfect.

August:
Prickly Pear Sorbet . I just love prickly pears.

September:
Apple Rosemary Meatloaf. I was excited that this idea not only worked but was super tasty.

October:
Pumpkin Cheesecake Swirl Brownies. Another of the most popular recipes I posted this year. Also one of the recipes I get the most e-mails about. Just a hint: follow the directions! Mix both batters thoroughly and don't try and substitute a boxed mix for the chocolate part.

November:
Peppermint Mocha Cupcakes. Starbucks inspired. Also one of the first times I realized that I could create a recipe that yielded a reasonable amount of cupcakes for a family of two but that could also be easily doubled.

December:
Shrimp & Grits. I wish I had some right now.

Check out other "best of" lists over at One Hot Stove's round up.

  1. Great post Rachel, I just did a little year in review as well. It pretty much just served to make me very very hungry. I'm bookmarking your pumpkin swirl brownies for future dessert cravings. They sound perfectly delicious.

    Happy New Year!

  2. What a great idea. It is so easy to forget about what we have already made. I love going through and discovering some of my older stuff.
