Spicy Chicken Strips


1 1/2 cups flour
1 ½ teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon poultry seasoning
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon allspice
1 cup buttermilk
1- 2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts
Vegetable oil
Salt and pepper


Heat 1 1/2 inches vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium high heat. . Mix flour with paprika, poultry seasoning, cayenne, and allspice. Divide seasoned flour between 2 plates. Pour buttermilk into a shallow bowl or pie plate. Line up plates/bowls in the following order: flour, buttermilk, and then flour. Season chicken with salt and pepper. Coat chicken pieces in flour, then buttermilk, then a second coating of flour. Cook chicken about 6 minutes on each side, until deep golden brown.

  1. I just wanted to know what would be a good side to go with this recipe or sauce. DO you think a sweet sauce would be good. I love your blog and I’ve made a few things from your desserts sections. I love all your recipes.


  2. Tanya- Just about anything would be fine, mashed potatoes, veggies, anything you’d normally want to serve with chicken. Not sure about the sauce, they are pretty flavorful on their own so I’ve never felt the need for a sauce.
