What's on Hand Tomato Sauce

28 oz can peeled whole tomatoes (cut up)
2 1/2 tablespoons oregano
1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
handful fresh basil
handful Italian parsley
1 medium onion, chopped
4 cloves garlic, chopped
fresh pepper

In a medium sized saucepan over medium heat, combine all ingredients. Cook, covered until warm or the constancy you like, the longer you cook it, the more the tomatoes, onions and basil will break down and it will be less chunky.

  1. This recipe is what we would call in our house a Kitchen Whipup. My husband is the King of kitchen whipups. He can go into the kitchen and pull out odd and unlikely ingredients and whip them into a meal. I myself usually need a recipe. When I make tomatoe sauce I usually start out with a jar of anyone of the popular brands and then I add stuff to it. I will need to try your recipe. I have a sudden craving for spaghettie and meatballs.
